Farrow on Tome IV: The Rise of Cadigan
Farrow: Ah! Another volume! ‘Volume Four: The Rise of Cadigan.’ ‘The Runefathers’ rule was challenged by a claimant heir of Aldur. On his first appeal, his words fell on deaf ears. On his second appeal, he bore weapons instead.’ ‘Cadigan took his throne as the next true King of Kalguur, and promised glory to all.’ ‘When red adorned the sky across the sea, fear gripped Middengard once more. Cadigan assembled his finest heroes, armed them with the Triskelion Flame, and sent them to those distant shores.’ ‘“Redeem those lands! Expand our shores! Show every Kalguuran that our prosperity is unending!”’ ‘And so we sail on to our unknown expedition, with adventure in our hearts and fear in our throats.’
Warrior: Red skies… must’ve been the Vaal Cataclysm that brought them to Wraeclast. That confirms the Kalguurans were here in truly ancient times.
Monk: What they describe… it sounds like the Vaal Cataclysm. That would suggest the Kalguurans came here a long, {long} time ago.
Witch: So the Vaal Cataclysm brought them to Wraeclast… This Cadigan sounds like quite the over-achiever.
Mercenary: So they sailed {towards} the Cataclysm? At least, I think that’s what those red skies are s’posed to be. Ol’ King Cadigan doesn’t sound too sharp.
Sorceress: This tome must be truly ancient. The red sky they describe can only have been the Vaal Cataclysm.
Ranger: So these fools saw the Vaal Cataclysm on the horizon… and sailed {toward} it?
Huntress: Red sky? Do they mean… the Vaal Cataclysm? But that would mean this tome’s a couple o’ thousand years old!
Druid: Could those red skies be the Vaal Cataclysm? That would make this expedition o’ theirs truly ancient.

Farrow: That it does. I wonder what became of the Runefathers…
Farrow: That’s one way to put it.
Farrow: Well… what a story these tomes have made so far. There’s a fair amount to mull over. Some day I’d like to learn more about these adventurers from Kalguur.
